We’re huge fans of ruffles (just check out our outfits on our most recent episode – ha ha!), so we devoted a whole episode to them! Ruffles are a pretty and feminine way to personalize just about any item, and they aren’t too tricky to make once you know… the trick. Jen wore a ruffle shirt she made that was inspired by one she saw at Anthropologie, and she made it with an inexpensive tee and a dollar store flour sack towel! Click here for the Ruffle Shirt Tutorial!

For the demo, Jen shared this amazing pre-ruffled fabric with us and two very simple, yet beautiful ideas for using the fabric.

One of Jen’s great ideas was to cover a simple lampshade with a rectangle of ruffle fabric – all she did was hot glue it on, and look how pretty it is!

You’ll just have to watch this episode to see what her other idea was! Hint: there was some burlap in there somewhere!

Roadkill Rescue Project: Upcycled Drawer Storage

Today’s episode of Get a Little Creative is one of my favorites! We talked about Roadkill Rescues, which is Beckie’s term for reclaimed old furniture that she transforms into something new. She created an adorable project for this show – she turned an old drawer into a beautiful little storage case for craft supplies. I want to rush out and make one of these as soon as I am done typing!

Paper Crafting Episode Featuring Kami from NoBiggie

Our guest for Episode 10 of Get a Little Creative was Kami Bigler from NoBiggie.net. She shared some of her adorable paper crafting ideas with us. We love Kami – she is such a kind and fun girl! Our heart goes out to her as she has recently lost her new baby, Afton Jean. We love you, Kami, and our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Up at the top is Kami’s cute little matchbox place setting. We love tiny things, and that is perfectly adorable.

This paper apple book is one of my all-time favorite Kami crafts!

We had a ton of fun in this week’s episode with Shelley from The House of Smiths. She’s such a fun girl, and she kept us laughing during the whole time!

Last week’s episode of Get a Little Creative was all about Christmas, and it was just us girls: Jen, Heather, and Beckie. It was kind of fun to just chat together for a few minutes! We talked about Christmas color choices, cheap decor ideas, and how to get a whole new Christmas look for just $10.

In our second segment, Jen demonstrated her great idea for showing off Christmas cards, and what to do if you don’t have a fireplace to hang your stockings on. We also talked about Baker’s Twine, which is a very cute and whimsical touch to use at Christmas time.

Did you catch Episode 4 of Get a Little Creative, with our guests Brook and Kirsten of The Crafting Chicks? They shared some of their favorite projects with us: a summer bucket list scrapbook and a spray-painted hutch, and then they brought such a fun project to make with us: embellished globes!

I wish you could have seen how cool these globes are in person (video just doesn’t do them justice!) I always see globes at the thrift store, and this is the perfect project to make them truly unique!

Clothing Refashion Episode, Brassy Apple Meg & T-shirt Shrug Project

Our most recent episode of Get a Little Creative featured the very talented Meg from Brassy Apple. She shared some of her refashion projects, and then showed us how to make a quick and easy no-sew t-shirt shrug. It was so fun to meet Meg in person – she is one of the most innovative crafters around. And of course, I love that she uses dollar store materials often in her designs!
